$125.00Our little miracle Cecil came to us in February after he was found just sitting in a ditch by a highway. He's an approximately 11-12 year old yorkie mix and he does have both eyesight and hearing impairments. He was in really bad condition when he was found and we actually didn't think he would make it. Good food, rest, and medical care worked wonders and this somewhat feisty senior is now ready to think about moving into a retirement home. Right now he resides in the office at the shelter. It's his kingdom. He was already neutered and has now been fully vaccinated. His fee is $125. Cecil isn't an overly active dog but does like short walks outside. He loves to feel the breeze on his face! He bonds closely to his primary caregivers. You know you're in good standing when he licks your hands. He thinks bare toes are great, too! He does eat a special prescription canned food that is gentle on his liver and tummy. He likes to be approached slowly and gently so a quiet, ADULT only home is required. He will require regular grooming and we're working on getting his first appointment scheduled. We also have him scheduled for a much needed dental. We don't think he'd have an issue with cats or other well mannered small dogs. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
Adoption Process
Starts with written Application form which includes questions regarding housing situation (rent/own etc. renters require landlord approval), History of previous or current pets, Vet information, Animal housing information (cats must be indoors, dogs fenced yard etc.). Fees for Cat Adoptions are $50 (or $75 for two) Dogs vary based on breed, size, etc. Average is $125.
