Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. We are a small, volunteer run organization. All of our animals listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the animals' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter. This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We provide all needed supplies and cover medical costs of the foster while it awaits a forever home.

Meet Rocky D6067

Hi, my name is Rocky. I’m a cattle dog/terrier mix extraordinaire. What is my actual breed? Your guess is as good as mine. I’m about a year old, so I’m still a puppy. My foster mom says that I’m just a perfect boy. I’m a real family dog. I’m friendly, loyal to the end of the Earth, and always ready for an adventure. I have a sweet disposition and I love human attention. Right now I live with 3 cats and 3 kids (and a baby). I do great with all! The 3 cats I live with are adult, so we totally leave each other be and live harmoniously. I love to sniff them and lick them and they usually think it’s okay. The kids think I’m hilarious, because I will join them in any game and help them with their stuffed animal sorting. I even enjoy jumping on the trampoline with all 3 kids. I am respectful when I meet new kids too, which is good because I want to meet ALL the kids. I love children. I love meeting new people and new dogs too. As long as the other dogs are nice when we meet, I’m down to play with whoever. My other favorite activities include carrying my bone, or carrying a toy around, helping with gardening, and squirrel patrol. My foster mom has chickens too...but I’m not allowed to be with the chickens because I think they look delicious. Oops. Sorry. I walk great and I even do bike rides on a leash with my mom too. I am very potty trained and have never had an accident in the house. My only “quirk” is that I hate my crate. I’m learning. It’s new to me. I’ve never been put in doggy jail previous to my current home so it scares me. I think over time I will get much better. I just need to know that you’re coming back and I’m not stuck in there for life! If you need a family dog that is ready to roll up to the breweries, waterfalls, hiking trails, you name it, I’m ready. I don’t even bark that much. Only when I see another dog and want to meet them. If you need a family dog, I’m your next best friend.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process includes an adoption application. After reviewing your application and contacting the vet and personal references, a meeting is scheduled between the potential adopter and the pet, in the foster's home or a neutral animal friendly place. If there are any resident animals within the home, it is required that they meet at this time. After the meeting, a home visit by one our representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. 6 month post-adoption check in is completed.
