Meet Katrina

What is not to love about a sweet and extremely cute six-year-old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel? This lovely girl wants nothing more than to be by your side and cuddle. Katrina, or Kat as she is sometimes called, is crate trained and doing quite well on her housetraining. She is also in the beginning stages of leash training and has done pretty well having a leash on her and being led inside the house with it. Her gentle and easy-going disposition makes her such a joy to be around. Kat gets along wonderfully with the resident dogs and cats and does fine around older, dog-savvy children. Even during the brief period Kat has been in her foster home, her foster Mom has seen an endearing personality emerge. She definitely has a playful side but also loves to just chill on the sofa or bed with her foster Mom and Dad. As with most dogs, she would thrive in a home with a resident dog who would help build her confidence and provide a sense of security. However, Kat’s foster Mom thinks she would be just fine being the only dog if “her human” was around most of the time to let her indulge in her favorite pastime – being near and loving on her person(s).  Katrina came to us with a bad urinary tract infection that took a couple rounds of antibiotics to eradicate. The infection is now resolved but she continues to have casts and crystals in her urine. The casts indicate possible damage to Katrina's kidneys. This could be due to the fact that Katrina was likely suffering of a urinary tract infection for quite some time prior to coming to rescue. She was put on a prescription urinary diet - Royal Canin Urinary SO and it has helped dissolve the crystals. Katrina will need to be on this diet indefinitely to help keep her bladder health in check. It is important that Katrina only be fed this special food and treats - no table scraps, OTC treats, etc.  Katrina also came to us with severe dental disease - 31 teeth were extracted at the time of her dental but don't let this deter you! She is so much better off without them and feels much better too. She eats dry food softened with warm water without any issues.  ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no invisible fences. Home with older, dog savvy kids only. Kat was spayed and had a dental with many extractions. She tested negative for heartworm & tick-borne disease, is current on vaccinations (rabies, distemper/lepto, and bordetella) & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500 plus tax.
