Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Beetle Bug

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Meet Beetlebug! This loveable and energetic pupper was brought to the shelter due to an unplanned litter.  His mom was a Weimaraner and his dad was a Rottweiler mix.  This combo has created some very large puppies with floopy, floppy velvety ears!  Beetlebug is very active and playful.  He is constantly having fun with toys and loves to grab chew bones to work on.  He and his sister are super excited for human attention and will excel in a home that uses positive reinforcement training because each is so eager for praise and petting.  And BettleBug is a sweet boy who is just a tad bit shy at first meet but warms up quickly especially if you have a new toy, he might be able to play with!  The pups were born the first part of December 2023 and are up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  The pups are each about 25+ pounds currently and we estimate they will be over 100 pounds when fully grown so please be prepared to have enough room not only in your heart but in your home for one of this loving, soft hearted sweetie.  They will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract and their adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
