Rudolph was found in a field with a mama dog and several puppies—likely dumped and left to fend for themselves. He’s come a long way, but he’s still a shy guy working on building trust. He’s skittish, especially with fast movements or being picked up, and tends to follow the lead of more confident dogs. If there’s a calm pup around, Rudolph’s more likely to come out of his shell. Once he’s comfortable, he enjoys gentle attention and pets, though he’s never pushy about it. Rudolph is quiet, crate trained, and has a cute little food dance when he sees his bowl coming. But he’s also got quirks—like occasionally peeing on bowls if they’re left out too long (he’s got a thing for marking, and his foster home is busy). He’s not much of a player, so kids should be on the older side and respectful of his space. He needs someone patient, with a calm home, who’s willing to help him keep building his confidence. Rudolph’s not the type to jump into your arms—but give him time, and he’ll quietly become part of your pack. Rudolph is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 06/14/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 4:30pm and 8pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
