Great River Rescue

Great River Rescue is a 501 (c)(3) private nonprofit organization founded in 1977. We are a no-kill animal shelter which rescues stray and unwanted companion animals. We provide quality care for those animals until a suitable home can be found. All animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Our goal is to reduce pet overpopulation and thereby end needless euthanasia. Our mission is to serve the best interest of the animals we strive to protect.

Meet Kane

Meet Kane! Kane is a wonderful dog who has been in search of a home since June 2023. He has been through professional training, and continues to stay with his trainer until a home is found. Kane loves car rides, walks, the lake, tug of war, and pup cups! We're in search of a special home for Kane, one that isn't too strict with him but also doesn't let Kane push them around. Kane needs to just be a dog, not a fur baby! Homes without small children and cats is a must. He has gotten along with other dogs in the past. Kane is an EXTREMELY friendly boy, but multiple meetings will need to be done just to ensure that it's the right fit. The first meeting will just be with shelter staff, and then we will direct potential adopters to Beltrami Line K9, where Kane is staying to train, where they will meet with both Kane and the trainer. Kane is truly a wonderful dog, he just needs the right person to come along!

Adoption Process
Dogs cost $175 and cats $75. Potential adopters must first apply to adopt a pet. There are no same day adoptions allowed unless someone travels from a great distance. If approved, the adopter signs an adoption contract and pays the adoption fee. Renters must provide proof from the landlord that they are allowed to have a pet.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
