Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. We are a small, volunteer run organization. All of our animals listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the animals' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter. This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We provide all needed supplies and cover medical costs of the foster while it awaits a forever home.

Meet Buddy D6063

Meet Buddy, known as Charlie – the ball-chasing, heart-melting Cocker Spaniel with charm to spare!   Charlie is 5 years young and ready to start his real life – you know, the one where he’s pampered, adored, and finally gets to be the dog he was always meant to be. As a breeder release, Charlie took his old "job" very seriously. But now that he’s been neutered (yep, those balls are gone), he’s learning there’s more to life than impressing the ladies – like belly rubs, naps, and chasing actual balls. Just to clarify: we’re talking the squishy kind. Tennis balls? Too basic. Charlie has standards.   Charlie is obsessed with fetch. Like, really obsessed. He could play all day if you let him, so you’ll need to monitor his playtime to make sure he doesn’t overdo it. He’s your classic velcro dog, happiest when he’s close to his person, soaking up all the love and companionship he missed out on in his former life.   Strangers? Meh. Charlie takes his sweet time warming up to new folks. He’s not aggressive, just cautious – so a patient home that will let him build trust at his own pace is a must. He gets along well with other dogs and hasn't met any cats yet, so jury’s still out on the feline front.  Charlie is not used to being on a leash so a fenced in yard will be needed.   Now for the real talk: house training is a work in progress. He’s rocking a doggie diaper for now, but with consistency and patience, we’re hopeful he’ll get the hang of things. At night, he’s a kennel champ. During the day, he’s earned free roam privileges – the crate wasn’t his vibe, and honestly, he’s been a total gentleman.   If you're looking for a loyal buddy with a goofy side, soulful eyes, and an unmatched love of squishy balls, Charlie’s your guy!

Adoption Process
Our adoption process includes an adoption application. After reviewing your application and contacting the vet and personal references, a meeting is scheduled between the potential adopter and the pet, in the foster's home or a neutral animal friendly place. If there are any resident animals within the home, it is required that they meet at this time. After the meeting, a home visit by one our representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. 6 month post-adoption check in is completed.
