Meet Walter *Arriving 5/30*

Meet Walter, the ultimate Velcro dog who just wants to be loved and adored! Walter is as sweet as they come, and his favorite place in the world is curled up in your lap or sleeping next to you. He will follow you around, eager for affection and attention. Walter came to us with his sister and her puppy, and they make the cutest little family! He plays so well with his family members and gets along with all of the other foster dogs, including larger dogs, so he’d fit into just about any household. While Walter loves being with his people, he does get a little anxious when left alone outside. Walter does great in a crate and is also well-behaved in the car. He’s doing okay on the leash but would benefit from a bit more practice. When you stop petting him, be ready for some gentle persuasion—he’ll lick your hand until you start again! When he’s done something wrong—he’ll lay on his side with his paws in the air, looking so adorably guilty that you can’t help but forgive him. Puppy dog eyes for the win! Walter would thrive in a loving home, perhaps with an older couple or anyone looking for a companion who craves attention and affection. Walter is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 05/30/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon.  Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and is available through our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian. https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics  to learn more about heartworm disease. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
