Great River Rescue

Great River Rescue is a 501 (c)(3) private nonprofit organization founded in 1977. We are a no-kill animal shelter which rescues stray and unwanted companion animals. We provide quality care for those animals until a suitable home can be found. All animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Our goal is to reduce pet overpopulation and thereby end needless euthanasia. Our mission is to serve the best interest of the animals we strive to protect.

Meet Vanna

Hi, I'm Vanna. I'm a super sweet girl who loves to be groomed, showered in affection, and to eat treats. I have lived with other cats and dogs before, but it's important to note that I like to be the dominant one. I'm very well mannered! My previous owner said I tend to be an escape artist, and can slip a standard flat collar or harness and jump fences. I do great on a martingale collar. I've been outside most of my life, so I will need owners who are patient with me as I adjust. I am very underweight, and should weigh at least double of what I currently do. I promise I'll be a good girl for you, come adopt me!

Adoption Process
Dogs cost $175 and cats $75. Potential adopters must first apply to adopt a pet. There are no same day adoptions allowed unless someone travels from a great distance. If approved, the adopter signs an adoption contract and pays the adoption fee. Renters must provide proof from the landlord that they are allowed to have a pet.
