Dakota Dachshund Rescue

Diane started doing fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and then Pet Pals for Life. She had a passion for dachshunds. We noticed that the Sioux Falls area had a need for a dachshund rescue so her and I (Doug) started DDR. The response and need was much greater than we anticipated.

Meet Dody

We are a foster home based rescue. Please fill out the online adoption application by clicking on Adoption Info under the Navigation bar on the left side of the page.Hi! I'm Dody, I am beautiful fluffy french bulldog.I am deaf so I need a special person to work with me and train me.Dody is an energetic, deaf, young fluffy Frenchie who loves to cuddle. She’s working on mastering potty training, and is quickly learning what is a toy and isn’t a toy. Dody appears to learn best when she had other dogs to follow. She does very well with other dogs and adores small children. Her favorite way to show love besides cuddling is licking and nibbling toes. She is not a fan of being kenneled as it gives her a lot anxiety, but she is learning how be out of the kennel while her foster parents are at work.   I am all about learning my house manners right now.I am good with my foster family and all the other dogs. It makes me happy to be with my family and I promise I will make you happy if you adopt me!  I do need a fenced yard as I have never been on a leash and I am deaf! My name is Dody and I am about 1 year old  I weigh about 32 pounds, my adoption fee is $750 plus $33.75 tax for a total of $783.75.

Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.
