Meet Harper *Arriving 6/14*

Harper is one of those dogs who quietly grows on you—easy to have around, sweet-natured, and just genuinely good company. She gets along well with all the other dogs in her foster home and can easily keep herself entertained when playmates aren't available. At night, she’s happy to sleep in a crate by your bed or curl up with you if invited. She was found as a stray and ended up at a Texas Animal Control, where she was dealing with non-contagious mange and had dull, patchy fur. She was overlooked—just another black dog in the shelter —but a few rounds of treatment later and some TLC, her coat is shining and her personality is showing through. She was nervous when first joining her foster home but never showed any aggression, and now she’s calm, content, and ready for the next chapter. Harper isn’t a fan of toddlers—their unpredictable movements stress her out—but she’s done well with older, more predictable kids. She’s generally quiet, though every now and then she gets a burst of energy and lets her voice be heard. Those moments are rare and short-lived. She’s not flashy or attention-seeking, but she’s incredibly loving and just wants a home to call her own. Once she realizes she’s part of a family, there’s no doubt she’ll continue to blossom. Harper is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 6/14 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 5PM and 8PM. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
