Tyson's Place Animal Rescue

We began taking in animals in 2015. Our rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets. We interpret this mission to mean we help people going into nursing homes, assisted living, hospice, managing illness, and after the owner has passed away. We want to provide people and pets with peace of mind. We want owners to know their animals are well cared for and to keep senior animals out of shelters.

Meet T Rex

T Rex wags his tail. He wags his tail when he sees you.  He wags his tail when he greets you. He wags his tail when you talk to him. He wags his tail even when you look at him.  A tail wag literally saved his life. When his owner passed away, his family, unaware of rescue resources, brought him to the vet to be euthanized. He looked at the vet and wagged his tail. They fell in love with him instantly and called our rescue, which specializes in assisting terminally ill people with finding homes for their pets, to see if we could help him. Thankfully, we were able to work with his original family to get him into our rescue and into a foster home.  T Rex is such a loving, gentle guy - all he wants in life is to be pet and to go on walks (don't let his age of 14 scare you away - he has spunk and has spurts of running when he goes for walks) and to be loved. He would love to sit by his person on the couch. He would love to be by his person's side on walks and he would love to sleep in bed with his person. He needs an owner willing and capable of taking him for daily walks, for his health and for his mental well-being.  He loves miniature tennis balls which are perfectly sized for his 15-pound self - he knows how to fetch but isn't always great about the dropping the ball to throw again. We don't care because it makes him happy! He also enjoys tiny stuffed dog toys and has a little stuffed beaver that he likes the best. He has lived successfully with cats and other dogs. He is afraid of cats, and we think he would like to play with another small, gentle dog. He does have arthritis so has learned to take stairs up to the couch and would need stairs up to the bed. He is a healthy 14-year-old dog who was recently neutered. He is current on vaccinations, had full senior bloodwork, and is microchipped. A future adopter should consider monthly Librela injections to help ease arthritis pains, and he may need a dental cleaning in the future as well.  For more information about him, please email [email protected] or fill out an adoption application available here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt

Adoption Process
We have an adoption application, which is reviewed by a committee, we then do a visit with the animal, and if everything goes well, an adoption contact is signed. Depending on the medical needs of the animals, the adoption fee ranges from waived to $175.
