Meet Fred Astaire

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application    HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see    HERE Age: 2 years (est. as of March 17, 2023 Weight: 8 lbs. (as of March 17, 2023)    This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. If you think diamonds are a girl’s (and guy’s) best friend, then Fred Astaire may be the dog for you because his foster mom calls him an “8lb. gem!” Fred came to rescue with his mom, Ginger, who is also pregnant with his puppies (Ooops!), when their owner passed away. He is super social and bubbly. Fred currently lives in a busy household with a woman, man, dogs, cats, a rabbit, and horses with no problem. He’s playful with his animal friends and respects corrections when interacting with them and is the same when meeting new children and adults. Fred likes checking our new places and settles quickly once he’s had a look around. He is generally quiet but sometimes barks when he’s playing. His foster family describes him as gentle, goofy, affectionate, outgoing, cuddly, intelligent, and even-tempered. He will do well with an hour or less of exercise each day and then is happy to cuddle on your lap and be a couch potato. Fred’s housetraining is in progress, but he is clean and quiet in his crate and does well on car rides, either crated or loose. Sometimes he gets so excited, he tries to escape out of eagerness, but that can be corrected in training. Speaking of which, Fred is a smart boy who would do well with some additional training, so he understands the rules of the household. Participating in training also helps to form a bond between you and your new dog and helps to keep them safe. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see    HERE    for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:  www.sosarl.org/aa/ * *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
