Good Dog Rescue

Good Dog Rescue is a an all-breed rescue group headquartered in Enfield CT. Our group is comprised of volunteers all over Eastern United States who love dogs and want to help those that end up homeless through no fault of their own. Loyal and loving dogs turn up every day in Southern shelters, as owners turn them in or they’re found roaming the streets after being dumped. To the best of our abilities, we evaluate all of our Good Dogs’ temperament and suitability for living with other dogs, cats, and children. A dog’s health is checked, and we make sure they are up-to-date on all shots and are spayed or neutered. Then, we place them in loving foster homes until they find their very own family. Our goal is to meet the needs of each dog as an individual and to assure proper placement in a loving forever home. What We Do... Good Dog is dedicated to animal rescue. In addition to our primary goal of helping homeless and abandoned dogs, we - donate money to low-cost spay/neuter clinics in the south to help solve the problem of pet overpopulation; - engage in community outreach activities with local schools to help educate children and young adults about animal rescue and responsible pet ownership; - team with non-profit organizations that train rescued dogs to assist disabled people. More than a dozen of our Good Dogs have become certified service dogs, helping disabled people lead more independent lives. We are proud of the work we do with our good dogs and in our local communities. South to North ConnectionEvery month, dozens of our Southern Good Dogs ride the transport north to their new forever and foster homes. The USDA-licensed transport drives up every week to meet new forever and foster families at various locations along the Tennessee-New England route. Our Southern adoptions are long-distance and the dogs are taken directly home from the transport . We facilitate long-distance adoptions by the transfer of pictures and information about the dog, and we arrange to have the adopter speak to the dog's foster parents. When a dog is in a New England foster home, we are more than happy to arrange a pre-adoption meeting!

Bailey is a 9 week old male purebred AKC Golden Retriever who was surrendered with his littermates by their owner in rural Arkansas. This pup lives in the house with his foster family where he's lovingly cared for while awaiting his forever home. Happy, playful, outgoing puppy! Full of fun and life, very confident and never meets a stranger. Well-socialized, growing up around kids, cats and other dogs. Recommended for children 6 years and older. Instruction has begun with crate training, housebreaking and leash walking. AKC registration.  DOB is 1-20-24. Weighs about 20 pounds, healthy, altered and utd on shots. This is an adorable puppy with a happy, loving temperament who will make a great companion for a family who loves the breed. Here's a note from the foster mom: "AWESOME PUPPY! Sweet, loving and affectionate. It's so much fun watching him learn what toys and treats are for! He sleeps 6-7 hours in the crate at night, learning how to walk on a  leash. Is very in tune with people, very intelligent and eager to please. Plays sweetly with the young kids next door. He's "learning the ropes" from our big dog, following him everywhere and trying to keep up. Very nice pup, will be a great family dog." To adopt please fill out an adoption application.
