Meet Vivie

Age: ~12 weeks DOB 2/2/24  Breed: 1/2 Chocolate Lab/1/2 German Short Hair pointer (mom and dad were both pure need breeds/papered) Current size: 12 poundsSize potential: medium to large. Potential to be 50 pounds, tall and lean. Leash trained: Just received her, we are working on it! Crate Trained: Last night was her first night her, she whimpered a little at first, maybe 5-8 minutes worth. Once the bedroom lights went out she crashed! Didn’t make a peep all night and no accidents in her crate! Potty trained: Just received her, we are in training. But she is SOOO smart! Treat motivated. So we are doing lots of praise and tiny training treats and she is definitely catching on! Kids: Great with kids! Other animals: amazing,  we have dogs from 5 pounds to 120 pounds, she makes #18 in the house She’s done great with all of them! Loves to play and rough house.  Loves toys! Ropes, squeaky babies and playology bones. (foster owns animal sanctuary)Energy level: Playful, puppy energy. Spunky! Walking beside you she likes to do twirls and jumps! House or apartment: prefer she’d have a yard Story/background: one of my patients came into the office and she has a home health patient that she had to go visit. The couple is in their middle 80s and she noticed that they had a new puppy. And she asked them about it. And they said that their grandkids dropped it off, but they couldn’t take care of it. The story was that the grandkids have a purebred AKC registered lab. And a purebred German shorthaired pointer. I guess Dad, the German shorthaired pointer, got into mom’s kennel and they had an “accidental” litter. They sold all of the other puppies for quite a bit of money. But they weren’t able to sell Vivian, because she didn’t come out chocolate or looking like a “pointer” color. And in their words, they didn’t want to have to “put her down since they couldn’t sell her” I told my patient to get the dog if she could and I would find the dog a transport out of state or I would give it a home.Ideal home/family lifestyle: I’d love for her to have at least another playful dog to play with. Someone who enjoys hiking or parks to play fetch? She’s going to be very smart with her breed combination and will like activity.
