Worthy Dog Rescue

Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs in distress, especially those living on chains, in pens, or in neglectful and abusive situations. Our mission is to provide a better life for these dogs, while working to address the root problems of animal overpopulation and improve animal welfare. We do this through community outreach and by supporting and educating dog owners in underserved communities, by sponsoring spay and neuter programs, and by rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need.

Meet Chico - ADOPTED!!!

Meet Chico! Chico and his buddy, Bear, were surrendered to the rescue because their family was having financial difficulties and could not afford to keep them. Both pups were stressed when they first came into the rescue after this major life change, but they have acclimated well to their new foster homes. Chico is currently being fostered with two small dogs both with more laid back energy, one is very submissive and one is more bossy, and Chico does well with both.  While Chio can be nervous after change, once he settles in, he is a very sweet, confident, and affectionate boy. Like many rescue pups, he needs a little more time to warm up to men, but he's doing great with his foster dadm Donnie.  We’ve learned that Chico is a fun pup who loves his people and enjoys going for walks and romping around the yard to explore. He has good house manners; he’s crate-trained and housetrained. He may bark some when left alone, but overall he’s pretty calm and quiet in the home. He loves to walk and will go for as many walks as someone will take him on. He has a medium energy level and is always up for activity, but knows how to relax inside...He  will be your couch relaxing buddy. We checked in with Chico's foster mom, Kristin, for an udpate: FOSTER MOM UPDATE: 10/723 Chico is doing great. He has acclimated well to our home and dogs. We have one dog that is very submissive that he gets along fine with and another dog that is a bit dominant and he shows him the proper level of respect.  He's a 2 yr old bundle of fun energy. He does zoomies every time we come home (talk about an ego boost!), gets along great with my pups, and loves his walks. He is crate trained, master of the art of snuggle, house-broken and is just about the most perfect pup. He'll make an excellent walking buddy, and needs a family who is willing to exercise him. Chico would be happy in a home with another dog. He would be great with kids out of the toddler stage. When he gets excited, he likes to jump, so care would be needed with really young children. He will bark when someone is at the door or coming in, but otherwise it's a fairly quiet pup. He likes his crate and absolutely loves to snuggle with his people on the bed at night. He currently shares the bed with his foster parents and the other dogs and does great. He does absolutely fabulous on long car rides with no issues. He has been on a few road trips with us to VA Tech too! Go Hokies!”  Chico would do well wtih another dog, or as only dog, with or without kids..He's pretty flexible and very cute!
