Key to Lion's Heart Rescue

I am the founder/president of Key to Lion's Heart Rescue. I rescue because I have a passion for animals and want to help the homeless dogs as well as educate the community. This is my mission statement for my rescue:Key to Lion’s Heart Rescue’s mission is to help save lives of animals that are in shelters or abusive and neglectful situations and give them a chance in life as well as educate the community on animal welfare. We are a foster and volunteer based rescue and rely solely on donations and fundraising to care for our dogs.Through our foster program we provide a loving, nurturing and safe environment for all our animals and address all their needs. We provide all our animals while in our care with vaccines, micro-chips, heartworm test and alter when age appropriate. We provide rehabilitation and training to those in need and work with all our dogs to prepare them for adoption into responsible and loving homes.Through our outreach program we aim to educate the community and our youth about the importance of animal welfare, proper nutrition and the importance of spay/neuter. We will work with the youth by going into the schools and inviting students to participate in our community fundraisers and events. We want them to be a part of the mission to end cruelty and the over population of animals in the shelters. It is our youth that will help change the future of animal welfare.

Meet Mr. Perfect

Introducing Mr. Perfect, a 4 year old bulldog mix. Mr. Perfect weighs about 50 lbs. We saw a plea for him at one of our partner shelters and ran at the chance of rescuing him. Mr. Perfect came to us with a lot going on such as, chronic dermatitis, bilateral lower eyelid entropion, conjunctivitis, and fleas. Since he has been seen by a vet at the shelter, was neutered, had eye surgery, and started medication to treat his fur! Even with all this going on, Mr. Perfect has been nothing but loving. We are continuing to keep up with his care and can't wait to see his glow up! Pictures of Mr. Perfect do him NO justice! He is a tiny little thing with a big head. You instantly fall in love when you see him.  Mr. Perfect is soooo affectionate, has the cutest snorts, has the cutest little trot, and loves a good belly rub! Mr. Perfect is dog and cat friendly. At the shelter he was said to be playful and polite with other dogs, but occasionally made some attempts to mount, so he may pair best with another dog that would be tolerant of this. So far we have learned that Mr. Perfect is crate trained, house trained, loves fetch, and is great on leash. Down side of Mr. Perfect, he has no boundaries, he is the definition of a Velcro dog and just wants to follow you everywhere you go. Mr. Perfect still has some puppy manners such as mouthy and jumpy therefore we recommend a home with older children.  To adopt Mr. Perfect, please visit our website! www.keytolionsheart.org

Adoption Process
Our process will include the following components: 1. Checking your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references that are not related to you. 2. If you do not own your place of residence we will need to call your landlord or leasing office. 3. Veterinarian reference. If you do not have any pets currently in the home, please list the veterinarian you used for any previous pets. We do require all pets in the home to be spayed/neutered. 4. Phone interview. One of our adoption coordinators will call and speak with you about your application and dog of choice. 5. Home visit from a Key to Lion’s Heart Rescue volunteer. Once your application is complete you will be notified of your approval to adopt and can take your new dog/puppy home after signing the adoption contract and paying the specified donation fee. Our fees for puppies up to 6 months is $400 to include age appropriate vaccines and microchip. Dogs 6 months to 7 years old are $350 to include routine vaccines, spay/neuter (unless unable due to medical) and microchip. All dogs over the age of 7 are $250 to include routine vaccines, spay/neuter (unless unable due to medical) and microchip.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
