Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Meet Libby

LIBBY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Libby and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (5/6) from 12-2 pm at PetSmart Potomac Yard in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name:  Libby            Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 months as of 4/16/23       SEX: female   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 26.2 pounds as of 5/1/23   Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at: DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations:   When Libby arrived in the shelter, she was very scared and shut down. However, she has been making great strides. We think Libby would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to continue to build confidence. once fully vaccinated.    Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Libby is Looking For:  Hi, I'm Libby, when I arrived at the shelter, I was quite scared but the nice folks here at the shelter told me, the shelter was just a stop and someday I'd have my very own family and home. What I'd really love is a family of my own, that will love me and help me build my confidence. Once, I'm old enough, it'd be great if my new family could take me on lots of adventures, long walks and dog parks to meet some new friends. Puppy classes would be fun too, so I can learn all sorts of things. What My Foster Says About Me: Libby is such a sweet gentle girl! She has been amazing these last few days. She was a little shy at first, but she opened up quickly to us and our 2 resident dogs. Libby just wants to be included in everything our dogs do. She likes to say hi by licking their faces nonstop. She loves to chew bones, chase our dogs in the yard, go for walks, and eat yummy treats. She is working really hard on potty training and is doing such a good job going in her potty spot. She sleeps through the night in her crate, and she will even put herself down for a nap after a long play session or a walk. Libby just started working on sit and she’s doing well learning to earn her treats. Libby is a great puppy, and she would be an amazing addition to your family! Puppy Vetting Requirements:   Lucky Puppies have had their age-appropriate vaccines but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:  The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life! Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org       .
