Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Meet Flipper

FLIPPER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!   Come meet Flipper and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (June 4th) from 12-3 pm at the Potomac Yard PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name:  Flipper        Best Guess for Breed:  Shepherd Mix      Best Guess for Age:  6 months as of May 2023       SEX:  Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  33.5 lbs as of 5/7/23   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations:   Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Flipper is Looking For:  Heya hiya! I'm Flipper! Me and my siblings, Frog, Fella, Fresca, and Feather, are just super cute puppies looking for our very own forever homes! I'd like to request some belly rubs and lots of treats and even more cuddles! When I'm just a little bit older, I'd also like to show off my cuteness with lots of walks around the neighborhood, romp in the park with other puppies, and to take a puppy class or two so I can show you what a good pup I can be! What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for little old me? What My Foster Says About Me: Flipper is probably the best puppy I have ever met. He has done beautifully with housebreaking and goes to the door when he needs to go out. He is a skinny boy but holds his own with all the big pups at the dog park. He loves to play and wrestle with his 1 year old pit/lab foster sister, but I think he actually likes cuddling with her even more. He can be a vocal pup when playing but if told by another dog to chill out, he does so without any issue. He is really good at reading cues from other dogs and is more on the submissive side. At events, Flipper will usually pull his handler around trying to find me or is sleeping under the tables for shade. He might seen aloof with potential adopters but I promise that he is the biggest snuggler there is and attaches to his person quickly.  For as much as he has been moved around between fosters and boarding (no fault of his own - most fosters were temporary for me when I was out of town), he is so adaptable to new situations. Flipper sleeps perfectly in his crate all night and is working on being okay in the crate during the day when I'm not home. He goes to daycare twice a week at Playful Pack and they love him too! This "typical black puppy" is nothing but typical and will make an amazing companion for any person or family.  Puppy Vetting Requirements:    Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:   The adoption fee for this dog is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog.   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life! Please visit us online at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
