Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Meet Scotch

SCOTCH NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Scotch and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 14th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Kensington (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)!   Name:   Scotch       Best Guess for Breed:  Lab and shepherd mix    Best Guess for Age:    2 years as of February 2024     SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   45lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs. We haven't seen Scotch with kids or cats yet but he can be tested!   Currently Living at:    DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Scotch is a truly Lucky Dog. Although he has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    What My Foster Says About Me:    "Scotch is a handsome cuddle bug with the most adorable wiggle when he’s excited. He is very well-behaved and will do super well with any kind of training. He’s also incredibly friendly and loves to give hugs to everyone he meets. He’s great with other dogs and children, and loves to play tug of war with rope toys. He does great on leash with very little pulling and likes to take his time sniffing on walks. Scotch also does well in his crate at night and is good at communicating when he needs to go out."   Scotch is Looking For:    Are you ready to add a splash of joy to your life? Meet Scotch, the most spirited pup this side of the DMV! This adorable pooch is ready to find his forever home and share his zest for life with a lucky family. Like his namesake beverage, Scotch is smooth, full of character, and always leaves you wanting more! This handsome fella has a beautiful coat that glistens like the finest single malt, and his eyes sparkle with the promise of endless adventures. Scotch is a social butterfly who loves to mingle at the dog park, just like a friendly pub where everybody knows your name. He's always the life of the party, wagging his tail and making friends wherever he goes. Whether he's fetching a ball or lounging in the sun, Scotch knows how to have a good time. Ready to Raise a Glass to Scotch?  If you're ready to welcome Scotch into your heart and home, raise your glass and let's make a toast to new beginnings! Cheers to a lifetime of love, laughter, and wagging tails with Scotch by your side!
