Adopt A Homeless Animal Rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form. We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Meet Chopper

Courtesy post Meet Chopper – A Loyal Companion Looking for His Person Location: Baltimore, MD Foster-to-Adopt Welcome | Training Support Provided Chopper (aka Champ) is a beautiful, affectionate, and well-mannered dog who’s ready for a fresh start with someone who understands him. Around 4 years old, Chopper came from a tough situation involving neglect, but he’s proven to be resilient, sweet, and endlessly loyal to those he knows and trusts. Chopper’s Highlights: ✅ House-trained ✅ Crate-trained and content staying home alone during a full workday ✅ Great with cats ✅ Friendly and relaxed with visitors inside the home ✅ Has lived peacefully with infants and children ✅ Knows basic commands and is food-motivated ✅ Dog-friendly with proper introductions His Quirks (We All Have Them!): Chopper’s only real challenge is that he has leash reactivity, especially toward strangers. He is uncomfortable being approached by unfamiliar people on walks, and in one unfortunate incident, he nipped someone who bent down too quickly to greet him on leash. The result was a minor bite that required stitches—but it was a clear case of miscommunication and fear-based reactivity, not aggression. Because of this history, Chopper is no longer eligible for rehoming through a city shelter. But he is eligible for a second chance through the right rescue and an understanding adopter. His Ideal Home: Adults only, or with older, respectful kids Familiar with or open to learning about leash reactivity Able to provide calm structure and slow introductions to new people Possibly has another friendly dog, or is open to slow introductions Willing to commit to continued positive reinforcement training (foster will help with this!) Why Chopper Deserves a Shot: Chopper is a gentle, loving soul who has been a wonderful house guest. He’s not a project dog—he’s a great dog with one specific need: space and respect from strangers when out in public. If you’re looking for a chill, cuddly, low-maintenance companion at home and are comfortable managing walks a little differently, Chopper will reward you with deep loyalty and unconditional love. If you're ready to meet a truly special dog who just needs the right match, Chopper is waiting. We'll support you every step of the way to set everyone up for success. Interested in meeting Chopper?
