Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Meet Bonds

BONDS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Bonds and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Feb. 18th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Falls Church (6100 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!   Name:   Bonds        Best Guess for Breed:    Beagle mix     Best Guess for Age:   1 year as of 12/08/2023        SEX:  male   Approximate Weight:   30 lbs   Gets Along With:  other dogs. Bonds hasn't been seen with kids or cats but we can test   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations: Bonds is a truly Lucky Dog!  He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.     Bonds is Looking For:  a forever home for the New Year. We're not quite sure what he's been up but Bonds has had enough of this shelter business and is ready to start living the good life. Like any hound dog he dreams of food, stinky things to sniff, dogs to play with, people to snuggle up to, and a comfy bed to sleep in. Beagles are known for being hardy, loyal dogs with gentle personalities. Start training early so Bonds can learn what it takes to make you say Good Boy and best of all, throw in a treat!   What My Foster Says About Me:  Bonds is a very friendly little guy. He’s never met a dog or human that he doesn’t like. He loves to give kisses and greet everyone he meets. He gets especially excited to greet kids while out and about. He is learning not to jump on his potential new friends but it’s difficult for him to contain his excitement. There are so many new people to meet and he is so eager to explore the world! Bonds is very playful and loves fetch which he has learned in just two days. Bonds is new to this whole having a foster family thing and is working on his house training! He’s a very smart boy who is eager to please and very food motivated. If you sit on the floor with him, he’ll cuddle up against you and take a nap or rest his head on your leg. He’s great in the car and just sits and looks out the window or lays down and naps. He settles down quickly in his crate and goes to sleep. He is not vocal and hardly ever barks or whines. He’s the sweetest little pup  with so much love to give.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
