Meet Hazel2

Hazel is a sweet, gentle short-haired dachshund/terrier mix who weighs approximately 16 lbs. Don't let the white fur fool you, she's no senior at only 8 years old! She came into foster care when her previous owner became unable to continue caring for her. Her foster mama called her one of the most affectionate dogs she had ever met, and now Hazel is ready for a forever family to love on.  Environment & Training Hazel is working on her house training and is doing really well—she just needs to stick to a routine. She could use a little work on her crate training too. She loves to be in the backyard but is a bit of an explorer, so a yard needs to be fenced in. Hazel enjoys walking on a leash but does pull a little. She’s very playful on her walks, where she she makes up for being a little couch potato at home. She’s a moderate barker but would be fine in a house with shared walls. She would prefer someone home more often than not. Hazel likes to take lots of naps throughout the day and prefers to sleep next to her people, but in the same room will do. Pets & People Hazel loves people and loves to cuddle. She especially enjoys belly rubs and walks. She is great around cats, kids, and other dogs and has been tested with children as young as 6. Hazel will greet guests and very quickly warm to new people. Her foster has seen no resource guarding, even though she loves her treats and is very food motivated! Location Hazel is currently living in Washington DC, with foster Kris. For additional information, please contact [email protected] . If you would like to adopt Hazel, please complete an adoption application form by clicking the adopt button. The adoption fee for Hazel is $275.00.
