Meet CHARLIE 2 (COURTESY POST)
Charlie is 6 years old and weighs 75lbs, he is up to date on his vaccines, is neutered, and is microchipped. "Charlie is a very sweet and compassionate dog. Charlie is, most of the time, a sweet and gentle companion. His human family bond is unbreakable. He will follow us anywhere and take on any adventure. If I go for a run, he goes with me. If it's raining and we're feeling lazy, he can be a couch potato too. He'll do anything with his human family without hesitation. He has a lot of energy and is eager to please. As a result, he can be very trainable. He loves working his mind. He waits to eat or go outside until given permission. And he enjoys games and activities with prizes in the form of treats. Charlie has been through traditional puppy training, knows all basic commands, is generally smart, and is respectful. He will do anything for food, so he picks up new games and commands easily. He does very well in the vehicle, but he dislikes/fears loud sudden noises, unpredictable movements, and crying babies." BITE/LUNGE/ATTACK INCIDENT: More than 10 days ago, in Winchester, VA, Charlies lunged and bit his human sibling's friend; the skin was not broken and animal control was not involved. Charlie's guardian explains the circumstances: " When my daughter had a friend over, one Charlie was familiar with, she got up suddenly in an enthusiastic manner and he lunged and bit at her arm. No medical attention was required." Charlie's guardian explains why he is rehoming him: " While we love Charlie very much, his temperament around children has become increasingly volatile. With two children of our own, he unfortunately is not getting the life he deserves, nor are our children. He's an incredibly sweet and loving companion, but his behavior around guests and particularly unfamiliar children, while well-intentioned, is not something we've been able to successfully address with the resources we have. We've agonized over this decision for years because he is, under the right circumstances, an amazing dog. It's just unfortunate because creating the right circumstances for him are really taking a toll on my family's wellbeing. I do hope we can find him the right home with the right family. I think he'll continue to have a joyous remainder of his life in the right environment. " Charlie's guardian states the following about children: Charlie has lived with children ages 5-13, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating " Charlie will bark at neighborhood children and is reactive in close proximity to children. He will thrive in an environment that minimizes interaction with children." Charlie's guardian states the following about dogs: Charlie has not lived with dogs, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating " Charlie is somewhat unpredictable with other dogs. He seems to like small dogs and some medium-sized dogs." Charlie's guardian states the following about cats: Charlie has lived with cats, but has not been around cats outside the home, so his guardian recommends his living with cats. Charlies's guardian describes him as: Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side House-Trained Crate-Trained Charlie's guardian describes his ideal future home: " We believe Charlie's ideal home would have one more more loving adults who will give him their undivided affection, cuddle and play with him, have few visitors or distractions, and have some space for him to run or play."
