Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

BETSY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Betsy        Best Guess for Breed:  Lab mix Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of June 2025       SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:   38 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!   Betsy is Looking For:  This sweet girl is eager to have her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed round out her wish list, but what she wants most of all is to know she's safe and loved and under her own roof.  In exchange, this young, smart, loving pup promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent some time in foster care.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
