Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

Meet Dave

DAVE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Dave         Best Guess for Breed:   Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix    Best Guess for Age:   2 months as of 9/4/23        SEX:    Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):    4.3 lbs as of 9/7/23   Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at: Arriving in a DC area foster home on 9/9/23!   Special Adoption Considerations:   Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Dave is Looking For:  This cutie is one of a litter of four (Dario, Dorrito, Dudley, and Dave). They've loved their puppy pile but are ready to put on their XS puppy pants and go off to seek family and love! They're just babies and all about play time and snuggles right now - and at their tiny sizes, the snuggles are awesome! In a little while, they'll be eager to explore the neighborhood - the local parks - the world! - with you. And make lots of pup and people pals along the way! This little guy isn't likely to be a large dog when he grows up. What do you say? Can you see him on your lap in the cooler winter months as you chill after a fun day together in all the years to come? Trotting way down there by your side on all your outings? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once this pup has arrived in the DC area and spent some time in foster care! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than January 4, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life! Please visit us online at        www.luckydoganimalrescue.org       .
