Worthy Dog Rescue

Worthy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs in distress, especially those living on chains, in pens, or in neglectful and abusive situations. Our mission is to provide a better life for these dogs, while working to address the root problems of animal overpopulation and improve animal welfare. We do this through community outreach and by supporting and educating dog owners in underserved communities, by sponsoring spay and neuter programs, and by rescuing and rehabilitating dogs in need.

Meet Wyn

Meet Wyn! Wyn is one of three Chihuahuas we rescued after their elderly owner passed away. After their owner’s death, the dogs were taken in by the adult children, but unfortunately, they were kept penned outside with little care or attention. Thankfully, a groomer who had been a friend of the owner learned of their situation and stepped in. She took all three pups into her care until rescue could be found. These dogs are incredibly lucky someone advocated for them—because of her actions, Wyn now has a chance at the love and life he deserves. When Wyn first arrived, he was understandably timid and unsure in his new foster home. It’s clear he didn’t have much exposure to the outside world, and he needs time to acclimate to new environments. He’s currently living with another dog and two cats in his foster home and has done well as part of a pack, though he mostly has eyes for his foster mom. He follows her everywhere and is her little shadow. He’s slowly warming up to his foster dad, but needs more time to feel comfortable around men. Wyn is crate-trained and housetrained, and he hasn’t had any accidents in his foster home. He has a moderate energy level and needs daily walks and playtime. While he can be barky at other dogs, his leash skills are improving with practice. He likes to chase balls but also settles nicely indoors. He’s very cuddly and loves to curl up on your lap during TV time. He’ll alert you when company arrives, but isn’t overly vocal. Wyn’s foster mom describes him as very sweet and connected to his person. He would do great with a single owner or a couple. We haven’t seen him around kids, but we believe a calmer home environment would suit him best. He’ll do fine as an only dog but could also thrive as part of a small, well-matched pack. Updates to follow as he settles in. Wyn will be coming to the DC metro area on 5/31 . Apply today!
