Rescue Well Incorporated

Our organization primarily helps owners keep pets in safe and healthy homes. We do this by offering support (i.e. training advice, management), supplies (i.e. food, crates, leashes), and we work closely with animal control on cases where owners truly just need help keeping pets. When re-homing is best, we work with owners to provide re-homing assistance which includes marketing and screening of applicants, as well as post-adoption support for adopters.

Meet BUDDY (COURTESY POST)

Buddy is a Mini American Shepherd, is 3yo, weighs 18 lbs, is up to date on all vaccines, is neutered, and is microchipped.  His guardian states the following about Buddy:  "Buddy is a loving friendly dog when you get to know him.  He is an active dog that loves car rides, adventures and would  be great with an adult couple or family with older kids.  He dislikes and/or is fearful of loud noises, running around, outside activities, etc.  He is typically quiet but needs a rural and/or working environment where he can tap into his strong herding instincts.  he can be weary of new people, but with proper introductions he can be a very social dog.  He is very friendly, loyal and affectionate toward adults. BITE INCIDENTS:   In January 2023 in Brunswick, MD, Buddy had an incident with guardian's child which broke the skin; animal control was not involved.   Buddy's guardian explains why she is rehoming him:  - Requires home with no young children - Needs home in rural and/or working environment - not suitable for townhouses or apartments - Needs an committed/experienced dog owner  - Separation anxiety - Requires treatment   Buddy's guardian states the following about children:  Buddy lives with an 8yo child but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with young children, stating 'Buddy is somewhat territorial and fearful.  He would be better in a home with teens or adults only.' Buddy's guardian states the following about dogs:  Buddy has lived with dogs so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating 'Buddy gets along well with a relative's two small yorkies and plays well with them.  Depends on the dogs.  He is aggressive toward some dogs.  Recommend introduction before placement.' Buddy's guardian states the following about cats:  Buddy hasn't lived with cats or otherwise been around cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating Buddy was 'Not tested with cats. Buddy's guardian describes him as:   Couch potato Barks alot Quiet Playful Friendly Shy Likes to be touched Affectionate Fearful Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Digger Buddy's guardian describes his future ideal home: Buddy would do well in: 1. A family home with a fenced yard   2. Family with teens, or adults only.   3. He is highly trainable and would be suitable for a farm 4. He can be territorial and is a good guard dog.
