Meet MARGO - FOSTERED in S. Maine

Meet MARGO! MARGO was saved from a high-kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, February 14th, 2025. We post our available dogs across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding them the perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs—families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine, to meet and, hopefully, take their new companion home. Health & Background MARGO arrived in great health and is fully vetted: ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ Heartworm and tick disease tested – all negative ✅ On monthly flea/tick prevention ✅ Received 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention injection in February 2025 ✅ Microchipped ⚖️ Weighed 58.2 lbs on February 12th Estimated DOB: January 2023 MARGO’s Personality MARGO is a joyful, affectionate, and energetic girl who absolutely loves people and is great with kids. She's friendly, smart, and eager to please — a wonderful companion for an active family. Very good with kids Friendly and social with people and other dogs High energy, jumpy, playful, and eager to engage Seems to be house trained Knows “sit” and “shake” Rides great in the car — alone or with another dog ‍♀️ Loves swimming — hops into deep sections and swims confidently Loves playing with the hose — jumps and chases the water stream Follows her foster dad around and is very human-focused Lives with a 9-year-old shepherd mix foster brother (Wallie) and is very respectful of his space Gives kisses as she walks past Wallie, and leaves him alone when he doesn't want to play Listens well when told “no” Handled a bath well at a self-wash grooming station Broke out of a crate once but did no damage and settled once free MARGO was originally adopted from a Texas shelter as a young pup in June 2023, but sadly ended up back in the same high-kill shelter in December 2024. Despite this, she remained sweet and trusting. She was selected to participate in the shelter’s Doggy Day Out Program due to her excellent behavior, further proving her wonderful temperament. Play Group Observation (Texas Shelter) Quick to engage in play with other dogs Very energetic and excited ⚠️ May be too energetic for lower-energy dogs What MARGO Needs MARGO is looking for a committed family that: ‍♀️ Has an active lifestyle suited to a high-energy dog Provides mental stimulation, toys, and structure Understands the nutritional importance of high-quality food, treats, and enrichment Will provide regular veterinary wellness checks ❤️ Will give her time to decompress, adjust, and learn the rules of her new home Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $350 Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet MARGO ⏱️ Applications are processed within 24–48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of MARGO?
