Underhound Railroad

Underhound Railroad was formed in 2009 by a group of friends, with a mission of rescuing innocent dogs from death row in Connecticut shelters. Underhound now tries to help wherever possible, focusing primarily in the southern parts of the country where shelters are overcrowded and the killing of adoptable dogs is prevalent. Through a network of volunteers, an undeserved death is prevented, medical needs are tended to, and transportation, as well as a loving foster family, are provided to the pups on their journey to finding their forever homes!

Meet Birdie, a 11 month old mixed breed sweetheart with a heart full of love! Rescued alongside her brother while shivering in the cold, Birdie has blossomed into a playful, affectionate companion. She adores romping around with her foster dog siblings and is perfectly happy sharing her space with cats. Birdie loves to play tag and has a blast running around with her friends. She’s full of energy and loves being part of the fun! Birdie also has a gentle side and is a big fan of cuddling and getting belly rubs. She’s super affectionate and loves spending time with her humans. When out on walks, she does great on a leash, enjoying the chance to meet new dogs and people along the way. Birdie would thrive in a home with at least one other dog to keep her company and share in her playful spirit.
