Ninna's Road to Rescue

I, Ninna Lopez, have been in rescue since 2007, managing a large no-kill shelter before starting Ninna's Road to Rescue in 2012. We have rescued and rehomed 1000's of animals. Our facility is climate controlled and the animals stay indoors at night in specially designed doggy rooms. They have access to the outdoors during the day in a large fenced in area. It's a little bit of paradise for the dogs until they find their furever home.

NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 3/13/2024:  Tempest - female - 1.5 years old - 2.6 pounds - Chihuahua Reason for intake:   This sweet girl came to us as an owner surrender.  First off, WE WON'T TOLERATE ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS.  The owner reached out to us for help and that is what matters.  Tempest broke her leg months ago and it was not addressed immediately.  Our vet did an X-ray.  The wrist is no longer attached to the radius or ulna bones (the leg bones running from the elbow to the wrist).  It pretty much just dangles.  Due to the fact that the joint is not attached and because it's been like this for months, repair is not an option.  Amputation is the best option for her.  The owner also stated that Tempest came from a hoarder situation and has been very skittish since they've had her (since about 5 months old) and they just don't feel they have the skill set to help her overcome her fears.  She just needs someone that has the time for her.  She is going in for surgery on Tuesday, March 19th for leg amputation and spay and to pull some left-over baby teeth.   Between Ninna and Diana, one of our long-time foster homes, she will remain in foster instead of the rescue due to her size and to recover.  Foster fail might be in the works, but time will tell.    NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416768288349589&type=3 OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Adoption Process
On-line adoption application required. If approved and at adoption we require adoption agreement, spay/neuter contract for puppies/kittens - adoption fees vary from $85 for felines and $150-$250 for dogs (varying depending on age, health, behavior, etc.) Adopters must have responsible dog-ownership history and stellar vet reference if applying to adopt a dog and vice versa for cats.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
