NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 6/14/2025: Skunk (came in with that name - and it's kind of cute) - male - 8-10 weeks old - 1.3 pounds - Shih Tzu/Yorkie Reason for intake: Vicki, our VP, was contacted about this little guy by his owner who said he was very ill. She couldn't afford the ER clinic. She signed surrendering him to us and we had her deliver him to Valor Emergency Clinic. He was lethargic and weak. The good news is it's not the "P" word. We don't even like typing out or saying the word! However, he was definitely hypoglycemic, which is not uncommon for small-breed puppies. The ER kept him overnight, pumped him full of fluids and he's now eating well and up and about! He may stay another night just to be on the safe side. Then, instead of coming to the rescue, he'll go into foster with Vicki so he can be monitored. Stay tuned! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Adoption Process
On-line adoption application required. If approved and at adoption we require adoption agreement, spay/neuter contract for puppies/kittens - adoption fees vary from $85 for felines and $150-$250 for dogs (varying depending on age, health, behavior, etc.) Adopters must have responsible dog-ownership history and stellar vet reference if applying to adopt a dog and vice versa for cats.
