Ninna's Road to Rescue

I, Ninna Lopez, have been in rescue since 2007, managing a large no-kill shelter before starting Ninna's Road to Rescue in 2012. We have rescued and rehomed 1000's of animals. Our facility is climate controlled and the animals stay indoors at night in specially designed doggy rooms. They have access to the outdoors during the day in a large fenced in area. It's a little bit of paradise for the dogs until they find their furever home.

Meet Stryker (READ THOROUGHLY - FEE WAIVED)

Please read thoroughly… ADOPTION FEE WAIVED. This is Stryker. He came to us November of 2023 as an owner surrender because the owners worked too much. He was adopted soon after but returned after about a week claiming the other dog in the home didn’t like him. He was then adopted again in January by an older couple. They contacted us this week that they were returning him because he is very food aggressive towards humans. He had shown to us some possessiveness which we did disclose to the adopters at the time of adoption but we had not experienced the level of aggression we were told about him. When Stryker has something and he doesn’t want you to take it away, he becomes aggressive. He went after the husband in the home biting him multiple times. He had never done that with the wife nor had we been made aware of him doing that in any of his previous homes nor had he ever done that with us. Stryker is currently at  All Dogs Unleashed  to train him not to be possessive of his food or anything else and to allow a human to take away from him whatever it is he is trying to possess. This negative behavior is something that is trainable / fixable. Stryker is still young at only two and half years old. If you are interested in Stryker, you are welcome to apply to adopt with the understanding that he is going through training, that he has bitten, that his next home will be his final home and that under no circumstances will children of any age be allowed to be around him. We also must insist that if the applicants are a couple that BOTH parties must be fully committed to the ongoing training, that both parties must be positive leader type personalities WITH experience with challenge dogs. Stryker does ok with dogs that don’t challenge him but as with humans, he will be food and toy possessive. Stryker is neutered, utd on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and housetrained (according to his most recent adopters). You MUST have a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference to adopt from us. To apply, click here:  https://www.roadtorescuela.org/dog-application

Adoption Process
On-line adoption application required. If approved and at adoption we require adoption agreement, spay/neuter contract for puppies/kittens - adoption fees vary from $85 for felines and $150-$250 for dogs (varying depending on age, health, behavior, etc.) Adopters must have responsible dog-ownership history and stellar vet reference if applying to adopt a dog and vice versa for cats.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
