Pet Adoption Services, Inc

Pet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for as long as 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds. While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and perhaps heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home.

Meet Destiny

September 2023 will mark a year that Destiny has been in foster care with Pet Adoption Services. She and her sister, Brianna, were found abandoned in a cardboard box on the side of the road in Metairie. At 8 weeks old, both pups were suffering from malnutrition. They were nursed back to health over a couple of more months, which accounts for missing out on events during what is often considered the "most adoptable" puppy months. But at almost 14 months, with a more clearly evident personality and balancing young energy with evolving maturity, Destiny is a perfect fit for a home wanting to avoid full-on puppy stage. She is great with other dogs and clearly loves people. Current on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Current on flea preventative and heartworm preventative.  Puppies and young adults should remain socialized to other dogs in their formative stages, so homes that can provide exposure to fully vaccinated and healthy well-behaved adult dogs is strongly preferred.   We ask that anyone applying take the extra obligation of owning this breed seriously, which means that you understand you must always strive for a any bully breed-type dog to be an ambassador for the breed. However, dog tolerance levels in Pit Bull-type dogs can change as the dog matures. It is the applicant's responsibility to know the terms of their homeowner's insurance prior to applying.    Landlords may have breed and weight restrictions. It is the responsibility of renters to have spoken with their landlord and reviewed their lease agreement and to have this information available for the application.  *Local adoptions (within 1 hour of New Orleans). Adoption Process
The adoption fee for animals adopted through PAS ranges from $75 up to $250 for pure breed pets. The average adoption fee is $150. All animals offered for adoption are spayed or neutered, heartworm negative or undergoing treatment, up to date on vaccinations, have undergone an intestinal parasite check and are verified to be in good health by our participating veterinarians. Adoption also includes microchip. In addition to completing an adoption contract, potential adopters should be prepared to agree to a veterinarian reference check and home visit. A valid drivers license or state I.D. card is required. This simple yet thorough screening process allows us to place the right animal in your committed, loving home.
