Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana, Inc.

ARF-LA is 501-c non-profit organization whose mission is to provide veterinary care, shelter, and adoption services for stray, abandoned, and surrendered companion animals then placed for in Lafayette Parish and the surrounding area. All animals in our care are altered (spay/neutered) and current on vaccinations. Dogs are screened for heartworm and other diseases and put on heartworm prevention. We DO NOT euthanize adoptable animals. Over the last few years we have placed more than 2,000 dogs and cats into loving homes. ARF-LA exists on donations from generous people who believe in our mission and give to us financially and otherwise so that we may continue.

Meet Hannah

Hello, my name is Hannah. I'm a female Yorkshire Terrier mix (possibly poodle) estimated at 7 years old, currently weigh 8 lbs. I am a laid back and gentle little lady!  My past was full of hard times and neglect but I’m told my gentle, nurturing soul still shines through. Due to these hard times I am wary of strangers, but extremely sweet and loyal once I get to know you.  I have heard them say I sometimes have the personality of a mature little lady, and sometimes I like to keep to myself.  Once I get to know you, I will go meet you in your chair and lie next to you or crawl up in your lap. Even jump in your arms when you come home!  I’m ideal for an older owner under the age of 65, maybe a small family with older, respectful children. I would be the perfect companion for someone who wants a fairly quiet dog. My foster Mom seems to think I may have been neglected and will need my new owners/adopter to be willing to give me time and space.  I do not have a mean bone in my little body despite my past neglect.  Unfortunately people in my past never house/potty trained me.  So my foster Mom is working on a schedule that will help me with my house/potty training.  However, I always potty in the same spot and sometimes make it on the potty pad.  I am a little lady and never bother any of your things.  My foster Mom desires a caring and compassionate home that will help build my confidence and understands about my bashful personality.  I just want to be loved and cared for.  I would love a forever home with a fenced in yard; where I will be given the love, patience and understanding every little lady needs. Could that home be yours?  Please complete the online Adoption Application today if you have room in your heart and family for a loyal companion and forever friend. Read the adoption requirements and apply @ https://www.arfla.org/info/adoption. Feel free to email Ms. Judy @ [email protected] if you have any questions.  Updated 04/25/2024.
