New Rattitude, Inc.

New Rattitude is a national, all-volunteer non-profit rescue/adoption agency whose mission is to rescue Rat Terriers (and mixes that are predominantly Rat Terrier) from imminent death at animal shelters, the streets, abusive/neglectful homes, or from owners who can no longer keep a dog, and to rehome the dogs into new and permanent, screened and approved adoptive homes. Each dog rescued is cared for in a safe and nurturing foster care environment where he or she receives appropriate medical care, a high quality diet, training and socialization. To achieve these ends, the organization is involved with transportation, volunteer recruiting and training, mentoring, fund-raising, and establishing and maintaining other programs deemed helpful to achieving the mission of rescuing and re-homing Rat Terriers.

Meet Maxx (MD)

I'm Maxx, and I'm a travelin' man. One day, I was traveling solo in the streets of Louisiana, trotted into traffic, and got hit by a car. A kind person whisked me to safety before I could get hit again. I wasn't seriously injured, so my guardian angel asked New Rattitude to help me find a forever family to love me and protect me from those streets teeming with things that run into dogs! I like that idea! Recently, I traveled in a jet to get to my foster home in Maryland!    I'm about 4 years old; my family tree probably contains rat terriers and lots of dachshunds. Now that I'm healed, I weigh just over 13 lbs. I sometimes sing and dance for my food because I don't want to be overlooked. I'm respectful of the resident dogs' bowls, but I do check to make sure they ate everything! Next to eating, my favorite pastime is being close to my person. I'll follow you everywhere and snuggle on your lap, next to you, or on your chest; I'm not fussy as long as I'm close. I get along with the other pups in my foster home, and I'm good on a leash and harness. We take walks each morning and night (with a daytime potty break), walking over two miles a day! I love the people I meet, greeting them with tail wags and kisses. I've done well meeting some of the bigger dogs in the neighborhood too!   I've almost mastered house-training, so my foster mom is working on a set schedule for potty breaks to help me. I'll sleep in a crate, but I would prefer an invitation to sleep in your bed. Since I prefer my person to be with me as much as possible, I might bark and sing if you have to leave, but I'll settle on the sofa and wait to sing joyfully when you return! I also like car rides and am well-behaved while traveling. So now, I'm ready to travel to my forever home. See more of me in my online photo album at  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/travismax .
