Animal Aid for Vermilion Area

To date, Animal Aid for Vermilion Area, a non profit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization established in 1995, located in South Louisiana, has helped rescue thousands of animals.AAVA has worked through 5 natural disasters, including hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In the aftermath of Katrina, they helped unite people with their pets and saved cattle from drowning and starving.AAVA also helped pass the Pet Evacuation Bill that keeps service animals and pets from being left behind during a disaster.AAVA has been helping animals and their owners for over 25 years, and one of their goals is to rescue and rehome as many animals as possible from the local Animal Control facility, a high kill pound with no adoption program. While all pounds are always full of dogs and cats for adoption, we are facing a particular challenge: this is a high kill pound with no adoption program

Meet Sawyer

Introducing Sawyer, the adorable 5-month-old cuddle bug who's ready to steal your heart! Sawyer has been with a foster family for just a week, but he's already up for adoption and eager to find his forever home. This little pup is an absolute delight, known for his love of snuggling up on the couch and his enthusiasm for learning new tricks. Currently, he's focusing on his basic obedience training, and Sawyer is making great progress with commands like sit, down, come, and heel. While he may still be mastering the art of staying put, his determination and eagerness to please are truly commendable. Sawyer's past experiences have made him a bit protective over his food, toys, and pillows, but with patience and positive reinforcement, he's learning to share and trust more each day. He's also making strides in his potty training journey, with impressive abilities to hold it for up to 8 hours at night. Although he may occasionally forget during the day, Sawyer is making steady improvements and is well on his way to becoming a well-rounded and beloved member of any family. If you're ready to welcome a loving and dedicated companion into your life, Sawyer is waiting with open paws to embark on this exciting journey with you!
