Meet Tasha

This beauty is nut-Tasha, but we call just call her Tasha.  Our dog-scanner app indicates that she is a Lapponian Herder/Greenland Dog mix, which are so rare that these breeds aren't listed as available breeds in Petfinder!   Both breeds are recognized by the United Kennel Club. Nut-Tasha is a puppy, so she can be a little nutty!  A very young stray, we can only believe that she either escaped from her home, or was abandoned.  As beautiful as she is, no one responded to our posts of "dog found".  She has been dewormed, given preventatives has had her first round of puppy boosters, and is scheduled for round 2 of her vaccines on December 29.  She will be spayed and microchipped early in 2024.  She tested negative for heartworms and tick-borne diseases. Tasha is a VERY intelligent, very active girl.  She loves toys and loves snuggling.  To her, there is nothing more exciting than running in a fenced area, playing with all 7 of her foster siblings at one time, learning new doggie games from them.  She is a HIGH ENERGY pup, and will be a HIGH ENERGY dog, requiring vigorous daily exercise and on-going mind challenging games.  In terms of intelligence and desire to please... she mastered going up and down steep indoor steps in one day, learned "in" and "out" the doggie door in her foster home the same day.  It only took a day an a half for her to respond to her new name, and she seems to have mastered potty training in 3 days, and is almost comfy with being crated in the same timeframe.  She will be a great dog for many dog sports including agility, and would respond well to training for anything and everything.  She is very inquisitive and loves learning new things. While we've not tested her with children or cats, we believe she would do well with children over age 8, but because she has a strong prey drive, we would not approve her to go to a home with cats -- for the safety of the cats.   Please research this breed BEFORE applying!  HERDING BREED EXPERIENCE AND A SECURE FENCE ARE REQUIRED .  Here's one link about this breed (copy and paste into your browser): https://www.dogzone.com/breeds/lapponian-herder/#google_vignette. Adoption Process
The adoption process consists of the adopters meeting the animals, filling out a bit of paper work, verification of adoption application information, paying the adoption fee, and agreeing to a post-placement home visit. The adoption fees are: $120 for dogs/puppies older than 6 months and $150 for puppies under 6 months old. Cats/kittens are $85. The adoption agreement is legally binding.
