Meet Freddy in KY - Pocket Pyr Gentleman

Stunning Freddy is looking for a foster or a furever home. He has a beautiful white coat with black markings, and at just 80 pounds—is what we call a "Pocket Pyr." He’s the perfect size for anyone looking for a smaller male dog. He loves to go exploring in the yard and on walks. This smart boy will sit for a treat...on occasion—isn’t that just like a Pyr? As all good Pyrs do, Freddy will bark, but only at things that need to be barked at! Freddy is a gentleman at grooming time, sitting to be brushed and to have his nails trimmed, although he can show some sensitivity around his ears. Freddy would do best in an area that is not prone to a lot of storms or fireworks. This boy likes to be indoors and prefers to have his person to himself so will need a home where he is the only animal. The ideal foster or furever home for Freddy would be one where he can soak up all the love and attention from his family. He promises to take his Pyr responsibilities seriously, patrol the yard, and keep his home and family safe. Won’t you give Freddy a chance and apply to adopt or foster him and make him your Furever Freddy?  NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Freddy in KY Age: 6 yrs 10 mos old as of April 2024 Color: white with black badger markings Dew Claws: double Estimated Adult Weight: 80 lbs Current Location: NGPR approved boarding in Richmond, KY Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply.  We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted.
