Introducing this elegant lady! Hi, my name is Precious. I am an adorable miniature Dachshund and I have been deeply loved my entire life but sadly my owner passed away and I had no where to go. Lucky for me I was brought into a loving foster home. I am 13 years old and mostly blind, but don’t let that turn you away, I have so much life and love to give! I am still spunky and love following my foster mom into every room! I am fantastic with my foster siblings, I’m quite in my crate, and I love a good nap! I know there is a loving home out there for me, that will see past my age and want to open up their couch for a little couch potato. Apply and adopt me today!!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
