Meet Hitch

HITCH is a little goofball, and we mean that in the best possible way. He's a happy-go-lucky little fluffernutter, about 1 year old and fully grown at just 13 pounds. He's brimming with puppy playfulness. Hitch is a Heinz 57 varieties-type mixed breed dog. He landed in a rural shelter with little chihuahua mix boy Hopper, who we suspect may be his father, but beyond that we can't begin to guess the breed mix. He has a soft, fluffy, medium length coat. Hitch is best suited to a home with another playful dog and room to run. Hitch is curious about cats, but would be fine with a confident cat who's not afraid to use her murder mittens to teach a dog a lesson. If you'd like to meet Hitch, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Hitch at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate if he's still available. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Adoption Process
We offer Foster To Adopt for dogs adoptions. You must complete the application, be approved and pay a $100 deposit ($150 puppies). You can then take the dog home for a trial visit of up to one week This will help you determine if you and the dog are the right match. If yes, then you can finalize the adoption. If no, then you return the dog to us and you are welcome to try a different dog. complete the necessary paperwork and pay a $100 deposit for adult dogs and $150 for puppies (cash, check or credit card). This fee is non-refundable, and will be applied to the adoption fee if you decide to finalize the adoption. The adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter surgery, parvo/distemper shots and rabies shots (for dogs over 6 months), deworming, microchipping, flea and tick protection, heartworm testing (for dogs over 6 months), and monthly heartworm protection until the dog gets adopted.
