Meet Gus in KY - Leans in for Love & Attention!
Want to play, go for a walk, throw a ball—if so, Gus is your boy! Gus, a young happy guy is a little rambunctious and always up for a good time! Gus will let you throw the ball; he promises to go get it and then run around playing with it. - Did you think he was going to bring it back?! - No way! - He is a Pyr! Gus will jump right up in the car to tag along wherever you may want to go. He enjoys playing with other dogs but thinks it would be extra cool to be an only dog, the center of his person’s life! He loves people, always greeting with non-stop wagging. Gus is that big fluff who will lean into you, give the look, and “allow” you the pleasure of rubbing his bootie! He is always polite providing a please and thank you! Got treats? Gus will “sit” and “down” all day long! He loves food but isn’t the type to go enjoy brunch on the patio with his friends—he prefers to eat alone and save the socializing for playtime. Kitties—he wants to nudge them and swat with his paw in hopes they will play. With dog savvy cats and a person to guide him, he could learn to play nice. Gus will do best in a home with a big, fenced yard to play and patrol; a home with a huge toy box, and an active family with large breed experience to continue his training. Older kids to play with would be fun too! As long as there are plenty of milk bones, and attention, he promises to keep his home and family safe! Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page.
