Meet Carnation

Hello! I'm Carnation, a certified sweetie and a bundle of joy! At just under a year old and weighing around 45 pounds, I'm a playful young girl eager to spread happiness. I could entertain myself for hours with a squeaky toy, and my tail-chasing antics and epic zoomies will surely make you smile!  I adore playing with everyone, including my feline friends at home. When they dash around, I can't help but join in the fun, even if I’m the only one really enjoying the chase! I'm also mastering the art of leash walking, making great strides toward being the best walking companion. Living with a baby is a delight, and I love showering him with kisses! Sometimes, I get a little too excited and forget my size, which can lead to some accidental tumbles. Oops!  Car rides are another favorite of mine, and I'm a champ at going potty outside. I’m also well-behaved in my crate, patiently waiting for my humans to return from work or settle down for the night. Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
