Meet Abu

We show our dogs by appointment only, if you are interested in meeting Abu, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org. Abu is 5 years old, weighs about 10-15 lbs, and is up to date on all vetting. Adoption fee: $300 Abu was rescued from life in a packed commercial breeding facility where the dogs received minimal care and very little human contact.  He was severely matted, and terrified to be touched by humans.  He is now in a foster home and is learning to trust people, and learning what it means to be a dog from his canine foster siblings. He has come out of his shell more and more but still has a long way to go. He will need a home with other dogs. If he is without other dogs he will shut down completely and will struggle to gain confidence.  Abu is still working on house training, like most small male dogs, peeing is the main issue and he currently wears belly bands to keep him from peeing on furniture in the house.  Abu is very skittish and will likely always be a flight risk, and a door dasher. so he needs an adopter who is confident in handling this and has a very secure backyard with no gaps he could get through. He really needs a calm environment with not a lot of in and out traffic, a home with small kids would not be an appropriate fit for him. He is also very scared of men and will bark at them, this is something that will need continued work with a lot of patience and understanding from any men that may be around him.  If you think you may be the right person to give this special boy his forever home, and show him that people can be trusted and are willing to be patient and give him time to overcome all he's been through, please fill out our online adoption application.
