Meet Charlie

Charlie came to MOGS after being surrendered from living life on a chain in a backyard. He now has a second chance to find the lucky family he deserves!  TEMPERAMENT/BEHAVIORSince Charlie has arrived at his foster home, he has proved to be a friendly, happy and energetic boy! He has done some counter surfing, he is a very tall boy, but only seems to do it if left unsupervised for a while. He is proving to be a typical intelligent GSD, who will test the boundaries but will learn quick! TRAININGCharlie is such a quick learner! He already waits patiently to be told he can get in or out of the car. Charlie will kennel right up when requested and seems okay being in his kennel. He can be a little excited and move around when he is trying to be leashed, but is quickly learning to wait patiently like his foster siblings. His walking skills are a work in progress, he does pull some on the leash and is very focused on all the squirrels. PEOPLECharlie LOVES pretty much everyone. So far, he has loved new meeting people and all of the getting and giving attention that goes along with it. He has also done well meeting kids too. He initially did some mouthing when he was excited but has gotten much better after being corrected. OTHER ANIMALSCharlie has adjusted well to his two foster brothers. He loves to play with the more energetic GSD and understands to mostly leave his lower energy brother alone. He seems to get along with most dogs he meets unless the other dog is showing aggression. Charlie reacts to this and will get excited. Any introductions to other dogs should be slow and supervised. He has not been cat tested at this time.MEDICALNo known medical issues, he was a little underweight but has been eating well and is looking better.   If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd who will love you forever, Charlie may be your ideal family member! CHARLIE'S ADOPTION FEE:   $350 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING CHARLIE? Adoption Process
Homes will be required to provide 3 references plus a Vet reference and have a home visit completed. The dogs are all completely vetted before being placed in their new homes.
