Meet Gentry

Gentry is a large and lanky coonhound who came to us from the city pound on 12/18/2023. His legal hold time finished and no one had claimed him. He's a typical hound and is friendly and pretty easygoing. He was already neutered upon arrival and his estimated age is about 3 years old. He has been vet checked, vaccinated, and microchipped. His fee is $150. Hounds are a hoot. They typically make good family companions but do require some patience. The nose controls all. Gentry is strong and will require regular exercise. We think he'd do well with kids and other dogs. Cats? We just don't know. BEST DOG ALERT:  Gentry is just an all around good dude. He doesn't cause any trouble at the shelter and just goes with the flow, easing into any situation. His happy face illustrates this. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.

Adoption Process
Starts with written Application form which includes questions regarding housing situation (rent/own etc. renters require landlord approval), History of previous or current pets, Vet information, Animal housing information (cats must be indoors, dogs fenced yard etc.). Fees for Cat Adoptions are $50 (or $75 for two) Dogs vary based on breed, size, etc. Average is $125.
