Buddy has definitely come out of his shell also and has found his voice when guarding the house through the front window or teasing the neighbor dogs through the fence. He loves everyone. A little shy with new people at first but warms up quickly. He LOOOOVED my dad - best friends right away. He is definitely a shadow. Has to be where his people are at all times. He knows what toys are, but doesn’t seem too interested. He’d rather use them as a pillow. I think he’d do great with another dog in the house. He and June are thick as thieves. 100% potty trained. Has never had one accident and lets you know when he has to go out. He also potties every time he’s outside even if he didn’t indicate that he needed to go. Walks great on a leash for us. Overall just a sweet, sweet boy." Hi! I'm Buddy. I came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue because my owner passed away so I needed a new home. This is a big change for me so I need a little adjustment time to settle in and show my true personality. In the meantime I have to go in for a dental. My foster mom will update my bio soon.My name is Buddy, I am 6 years old, I weigh 40 pounds, my adoption fee is $325 plus sales tax $14.63= $339.63 My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, dental and microchipping.
Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.
