Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Posey

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Meet Posey!  This little gal was found running around Estherville with our great Dane mix Kayne when she ended up in a local business and then came to us.  She has been in a foster home since and is ready for her new forever home.  While we won't know what her past looked like we know what Posey would like in a future.  This tiny princess gets along great with all sizes of dogs and she doesn't mind the cats in her foster home either.  She really likes kids and humans but she can get her chihuahua-tude activated occasionally and nip if she doesn't like the way she is being handled so make sure any kids know how to approach a dog, how to be respectful and also the signs of when a dog would like to be left alone.  She rides well in a car, loves snuggle up naps and to play!  Posey is just over a year, about 10 pounds and fully vetted and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
