Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Bergamot

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Meet the citrus pups!  Available just in time for a little "vitamin C" (in the form of puppy snuggles) to keep you healthy as winter moves into the Midwest!  Don't miss your chance to adopt one of these adorable pups.  Everyone knows that dopamine (that happy feeling) is in limited supply on our short days and long nights of winter but never fear there will be no shortage of Dopamine with one of these sweet pups near.  We introduce to you Lemon, Grapefruit, Satsuma, Kumquat, Lime, Lumia, Pomelo, Clementine, Tangerine and Bergamot! Each one of these pups is playful, loving, outgoing and attention seeking.  Their mom is super awesome (available for adoption soon) and looks very much like a Springer Spaniel.  We have no idea who the father might have been but we are guessing he might have been lab/retriever but truly your guess is as good as ours!  It doesn't matter because they are all adorable and will make a wonderful addition to your family for the Holidays this year and for many to come.  The pups were born 10/09/23 and are age appropriately vaccinated, wormed and micro-chipped.  They will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract which means the new family will be responsible for that surgery by the contract date.  Their adoption fee is $300.00 They will be available 12.8.23 and we are accepting applications now.

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
