Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Roscoe (Noodle)

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org***   Roscoe aka Noodle was approximately 4-5 months old at the time he was found at the beginning of May. He is a very relaxed pup and spends most of his time taking a nap. He is what one would call a Velcro dog, he wants to be by your side at all times. So watch out, you’ll probably trip over him a time or two (or more.) When you decided it’s time for you to relax, he will want to be by your side to snuggle. He is still a little bit of an uncoordinated pup with his long, dopey legs which makes playtime quite entertaining. He loves to study and harass the dog he lives with by chasing her when she is playing with her toys.    Roscoe currently lives in a house with one other dog and visits several more dogs at his foster family's farms. He does well with kids, also. He hasn't yet experienced any cats but this is something we can learn more about if the potential adoptive family needs to know.  He has taken very well to training. He understands the commands sit, down, out, heal, place, kennel and he's doing well with potty training but we are still working on leash skills. He is not a destructive chewer and he does well with finding a toy when he wants to chew. Roscoe does great in vehicles and always enjoys an adventure! Roscoe is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
